New government portal gov.cy
Cyprus state services going digital with new portal
Through the gov.cy portal the citizen will be able to do all his transactions with the government.
The launch of both the government website gov.cy, which is a “redesign of the way citizens and businesses deal with the public” and the new online service of the Social Insurance Services, Childbirth Assistance, was announced at a related presentation ceremony the Minister of Labor and Social Insurance Kyriakos Kousios and the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Transformation Kyriakos Kokkinos.
Through the gov.cy portal, the citizen will be able to do all his transactions with the public sector and it will work in parallel with the government’s online security portal “Ariadni”, whose operation will be terminated in about two months. The new government portal consists of 15 categories which have a number of sub-categories. The categories are Health and Care, Social Welfare and State Aid, Citizenship and Citizen Rights, Family, Work and Insurance, Travel to and from Cyprus, Transport, Education and Training, Business Activity, Property and Taxation, Land and Housing, Justice, Security and Defence, Environment and Energy, Statistics and Recommendations and Complaints.
As Mr. Kokkinos announced, more than 350 services of the state will slowly move to the gov.cy portal, while the existing services that are currently in “Ariadni” will be accessible through the portal and will gradually be transferred to the environment and its planning gov.cy.
He noted that consulting services were taken from the United Kingdom, which has been running gov.uk for about nine years.
