Kykkos Monastery and Kakopetria Village Excursion from Ayia Napa Troodos Mountains Your tour begins at your Ayia Napa hotel, where you’ll board an air-conditioned coach destined for Kakopetria, a quaint village famed for its streams and miniature waterfall. On arrival here, you’ll have free time to explore. Return to your vehicle for a scenic drive through the Troodos Mountains: stop off at Throni, perched on the summit of the mountains, to enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding landscapes. Opt to visit the tomb of Archbishop Makarios III, the first President of Cyprus, before you proceed to the Kykkos Monastery. Founded by Byzantines in the 11th century, the monastery boasts a gorgeous shrine to the Virgin Mary, decorated with tortoiseshell and mother-of-pearl. Spend free time here, opting to visit the monastery and purchase lunch. Please note that a dress code must be followed in order to visit the monastery. (No shorts or sleeveless tops; knees and shoulders must be covered for both men and women.) Your tour concludes with drop-off back at your Ayia Napa hotel.
